Compagnie Mossoux-Bonté - “Night over the World” (Belgium)

Concept: Patrick Bonté

This creative tandem of a woman and a man has been blurring the line between theatre and dance for almost 20 years. The Belgian artists, awarded at many European festivals, have given performances in over 30 countries around the world.

Nuit sur le monde (Night in the world) is a triptych consisting of three parts: Noli me tangere (Do not touch me), Ad mortem festinamus (We hasten towards death) and Sola sub nocte (Alone in the night). The performance combines theatre and dance, using intense, disturbing visual forms it tries to touch the “mystery of the end”, crossing the border between life and death. Figures imprisoned in a low relief start moving, they are emerging from stone, separating themselves from the shadow… Sudden falls, chance embraces, flow of movement: humanity appears as doubting in its beginning, unaware of its end… The world is a low relief which starts to breathe and moves once in a while; men and women appear and disappear like figures or fossilised medusas. In the Compagnie Mossoux-Bonté’s performance human is a strange being in a state of limbo, who frees from the fossil, a mineral substance for a moment in order to tell us about his solitude and longing. And what if every being moves along the same unchanging road? An unfathomed journey through emotions begins. The atmospheric performance is constructed with a picturesque language of movement.

“An outstanding performance of unusual intensity capable of crossing the limits of time” – justification of the Mimos Festival 2007 Jury’s verdict, Périgueux (France).
